Reducer is also known as eccentric reducer or concentric reducer, which is a pipe fitting used to connect pipelines of different diameters.It is usually a tubular structure with different diameters at both ends. The middle part has a certain transition shape to achieve a smooth change in pipe diameter. The transition shape may be frustoconical, spherical, etc., and the frustoconical shape is more common.

Main types

1. Concentric reducer: The centers at both ends are on the same straight line. It is mainly used for transitional connection of different pipe diameters on straight pipelines. The fluid flows relatively smoothly in it and the resistance is relatively small.

2. Eccentric reducer: The centers at both ends are not on the same straight line. It is generally used in occasions to avoid the accumulation of liquid or impurities at the bottom of the pipeline, such as in the connection of some horizontal pipelines and vertical pipelines.

Functions

1. Connect pipelines of different diameters to realize a reasonable layout of the pipeline system and meet different flow and pressure requirements.

2. Adjust the flow velocity and pressure distribution of the pipeline system to ensure the stable flow of fluid in the entire system.

Application fields

It is widely used in pipeline systems in industries such as petroleum, chemical, water supply and drainage, and electric power. For example, in chemical plants, the pipe connection between different equipment may need to use reducers to adjust the pipe diameter; in urban water supply and drainage projects, the connection between main pipelines and branch pipelines of different diameters will also use reducers.
